Epic Games is looking for a hands-on Network Architect to join a growing team within Epic’s IT organization. In this role, you’ll play an integral part in building Epic’s network strategy, processes, and global information technology roadmap. The person in this role will partner with both business and technology groups to ensure that technical solutions align with the company’s overall business and operations objectives. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about practical problem solving and is comfortable working in an iterative, collaborative work environment.



The person in this role will be responsible for the following:


  • Designing and implementing robust, secure, and scalable network infrastructure

  • Completing solutions across our global enterprise, including

    • Data center

    • Infrastructure/cloud service providers

    • LAN switching/routing

    • WAN connectivity for remote offices

    • Perimeter network security

    • Disaster recovery and business continuity

  • Owning integration of IT network services with the engineering and game development teams

  • Supporting the entire lifecycle of technology implementations, identifying and designing solutions for business requirements, and developing SOP’s

  • Monitoring and auditing health of infrastructure

  • Participating in on-call support rotation with the team for events requiring manual intervention or escalation

  • Supporting Epic’s commitment to security by contributing to voluntary and compulsory compliance efforts in best-practices based systems design and operational areas

  • Creating and refining project plans, design blueprints, service and infrastructure architecture

  • Contributing to the long-term strategic roadmap for all IT systems architecture

  • Working directly with external OEM’s, service providers, infrastructure/cloud providers, and hosting companies as a primary point of collaboration


The ideal candidate will have a mix of the qualifications below:


  • Previous experience in senior-level network architect/engineering role at a multinational organization

  • Willingness and ability to tackle implementation and support engineer tasks as needed

  • Deep knowledge and experience in routing protocols, VPN, and network technologies (MPLS, OSPF, BGP, WAN acceleration, DNS, VPN - IPSec, PPTP, L2TP, etc)

  • Deep expertise with application and network troubleshooting tools (packet analysis, Ethereal, Wireshark; client/server log correlation and analysis; code execution debugging)

  • In-depth experience with Public/Private/Hybrid Cloud models, Systems Management, IT Operations tools and best practices

  • Scripting experience (Python, Perl, PowerShell, etc), and extensive CLI experience on Windows, Linux, and network devices for configuration and troubleshooting

  • Experience with infrastructure automation (AWS API's, CloudFormation, OpsWorks, Eucalyptus, Metacloud, OpenStack HOT, vSphere, vCommander, Terraform, etc)

  • Knowledge of configuration management (Ansible, CFEngine, Puppet, SCOM, SCCM, Powershell DSC, Chef, etc)

  • Extensive experience in supporting implementations through entire lifecycle, and advocating for requirements of an entire team to support a solution

  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology
