Epic Games is looking for an experienced Tech Lead with a passion for gameplay systems to help drive Fortnite’s technical architecture. In this role, you'll work collaboratively with Fortnite's content and engineering teams to bring Fortnite to new audiences. Through a combination of passion and experience, you'll impact every area of Fortnite development from developer-facing tools to player-facing concerns such as performance, memory, and stability. You will have a chance to solve problems and dive deeply into a variety of features and systems on a massive scale.
The person in this role will be responsible for the following:
Solving problems across low level systems (network, gameplay, audio) impacting Fortnite and its developers, while driving technical excellence
Troubleshooting engine and platform specific issues
Working with the Unreal Engine team to identify and deliver feature and performance improvements
Working with discipline leads to identify engine-level features for upcoming releases
Working with art and gameplay teams to develop and iterate on features, performance, and tools
Guide technical growth of other engineers on the team
The ideal candidate will have a mix of the qualifications below:
Experience developing and shipping games for modern platforms and fullstack knowledge of online gameplay architecture
Strong C++ knowledge and experience working in Unreal Engine
Experience providing technical and people leadership on small to mid-sized teams
A keen analytical mind with strong problem solving skills, as evidenced by previous experience on game and engine teams
Owned the implementation and/or support of major engine features used for delivering gameplay or design work
Excellent communication skills with a collaborative attitude
Good sense of multithreaded systems and parallelization
Low level system knowledge
Experience with various profiling tools
