It is an exciting time to be at Epic. We are looking for a Media Systems Architect to join our brand new San Francisco studio and work with our team to create cutting edge solutions. This individual will be critical to the Studio’s success as we build our infrastructure from the ground up, support a team of world-class developers and redefine film, TV and games. This studio will become an Epic Center of Excellence in cinematic and graphics tools development and we’re searching for an especially strong IT Administrator. Someone who is up to the task of creating awesome solutions, able to support a growing team, and excited about helping us build amazing technology. The person in this role will be responsible for the following:
Functioning as the technical lead and architect for Epic Games’ West Coast offices
Developing and supporting production workflows. Including real time presentations and global art reviews
Engineering support of all media systems related to production dailies, presentations, screenings, special events, presentation theaters, editorial systems, audio and video routers, automated control systems, motion capture setups, and remote collaboration tools
Driving infrastructural decisions for building and maintaining scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant systems in support of your site
Liaising with IT engineers to maximize system performance and reliability
Organizing and working with Epic stakeholders to test and prepare and maintain technology for shows, conventions, demos and events
Up-to-Date knowledge and a passion for technology relating to media and post-production
Solid understanding and experience with various media file formats, and compression schemes
Solid understanding and practical experience with video and audio transport streams
Familiarity and practical experience with professional post production equipment such as DCI projectors, SAN and NAS file servers, network routers and switches, A/V control systems etc.
Experience maintaining and calibrating audio and video equipment
Linux, OS X, and Windows administration skills
Familiarity with AV networking and streaming technology
Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP, Ethernet, UDP, NFS & CIFS protocols, DNS, DHCP and familiar with basic network troubleshooting tools
Proficient using and supporting Source Control tools (Perforce and Git preferred)
Experience with configuration management and deployment automation
